Lophiomys imhausi, also called the maned rat. I saw a stuffed specimen in a museum once. This creature chews bark of a toxic tree and rubs the saliva into its fur, can drop a dog dead if bitten. Apparently scientists don't know yet how the rat avoids poisoning itself when preparing the toxin.
