fox vectors

Finally got myself a vector program and I have been recreating some of my sketches into vector artwork. Went through old sketchbooks and pulled up some cute foxes. It turns out they translate very well into this form of graphic art (at least, I think so). And although the work can be tedious, I found the skill came back to me quite easily (from one class I took about ten years ago!). I rather enjoy the focus of making beautiful curves that communicate the shape I want, with the least number of anchors (I draw the curves by hand, no auto-plotting).

Anyways, here's some results. Original fox sketches, followed by the vector art they became:

Last night I spent about half an hour sketching from a film we borrowed from the library, the Great Polar Bear Adventure. It wasn't a particularly good film. The message was solid- showing how polar bears are influenced by global warming and human encroachment on their habitat, and the voices were okay- not too annoying. But I had just watched an Attenborough documentary and recognized all the polar bear clips that came from that. Which was also okay, except that they kept repeating the same clips throughout the film. Especially of the little fox. I noticed it even before I paused stills to sketch from. Regardless, it was fun to draw.

foxes

I have actually done very little drawing these past few weeks; the pics I'm sharing now are from last month. These foxes were sketched on different days, the third one with rollerball pen, others all ballpoint.
