ducks

A few weeks ago I watched a documentary on ducks, and did some sketching. The main feature was Wood Ducks, very pretty with their vivid feathers but I was only using a black ink pen.
I thought this walking duck was a female mallard but it's an American Black Duck.
Green-Winged Teal in breeding plumage with its feathers ruffled.
This one I sketched just to get the frontal view of the head, with its distinctive bulgy cheeks!
Quack!

I feel I must make an explanation for the grey backgrounds. Since setting up my new office I have not yet bought a scanner and resorted to photographing the drawings. It's difficult to get the light even. Perhaps I will build a lightbox...

I believe this little antelope with the funny tuft of hair on its head is called the dik-dik. Sketched at a museum.
